Role Overview
The Senior Claims Consultant will be responsible for managing complex and routine insurance claims while ensuring decisions are accurate, timely and consistent with company policies, regulatory requirements and service standards.
The successful candidate will also provide technical support to junior claims staff, maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers, and contribute to improving claims processes and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex and routine claims in accordance with service standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assess claims accurately and conduct thorough investigations.
- Make sound and timely claims decisions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers.
- Lodge and update claims accurately within the claims management system.
- Maintain current knowledge of insurance products, policy wordings, industry practices and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide support to the Team Leader on claims-related tasks and initiatives.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior claims staff.
- Assist with improving claims systems, procedures and customer service practices.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and service level agreements.
- Prepare claims reports and performance insights for management review.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance or a related discipline is preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in claims management or a related insurance role.
- Relevant professional qualification such as ANZIIF Associate CIP is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of insurance policies and claims processes.
- Sound understanding of applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
