Air Niugini is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Statistics Officer within the Maintenance Control Department. This role is responsible for collecting and analysing aircraft technical data to support defect investigations and reliability performance reporting across the airline’s fleet. The position reports to the Technical Services Manager and works closely with Reliability Engineers, Fleet Controllers, and Aircraft Maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and compile daily aircraft technical data including:
• Pilot Reports (PIREP)
• Unscheduled Component Removals (UCR)
• Technical disruptions (flight cancellations, delays, air returns, taxi returns)
• Monitor and report on:
• Bird strike incidents
• Engine oil consumption
• MEL usage
• Prepare and distribute monthly Technical Dispatch Rate (TDR) reports
• Compile and submit monthly reports to relevant stakeholders including:
• CASA PNG (Fleet Utilisation & Statistics)
• De Havilland Canada (FRACAS Data)
• Fokker Services and Boeing (Quarterly Reports)
• Provide operational reports such as Block Hours and AOG reports to Finance teams
• Prepare IATA Standard Maintenance Statistics Reports and ensure timely distribution

Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 years’ relevant experience
• Knowledge of aircraft technical logs and operational disruptions
• Familiarity with systems such as AJTL, WinAir, or APM is an advantage
• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field is desirable
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel
• Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills
