CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)

Location: Port Moresby, National Capital District, Papua New Guinea

Executive Leadership Opportunity

Air Niugini Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Financial Officer will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and provide strategic financial leadership, governance, and commercial direction across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Provide expert financial and commercial advice to the CEO, Executive Management Team, and Board of Directors.
• Drive financial performance through effective planning, forecasting, and resource allocation.
• Oversee preparation of financial statements, statutory reports, taxation requirements, and stakeholder reporting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and legislative obligations.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
• Manage cash flow requirements and oversee financial systems and controls.
• Evaluate major investments, projects, and commercial opportunities.
• Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and funding partners.
• Identify and manage financial risks, including foreign exchange, credit, and interest rate risks.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
• Promote strong governance, accountability, and compliance across the organisation.
• Deliver financial reports and strategic advice to the CEO, Board, and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Minimum 8–10 years' experience in senior financial leadership positions.
• Proven experience leading finance functions within large and complex organisations.
• Strong expertise in financial strategy, governance, treasury management, investment evaluation, and risk management.
• Experience in aviation, transport, infrastructure, or other asset-intensive industries will be an advantage.
