Position: Social Media Officer – National Office

Primary Objective

Reporting to the Team Leader Marketing and Public Relations, the Social Media Officer will manage PNG Power’s online presence. The role involves creating, scheduling, and publishing engaging content across social media platforms to enhance brand awareness, provide real-time service updates, and strengthen community engagement.

Key Requirements

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
• Experience & Responsibilities
• 2–5 years’ experience in social media management, public relations, or digital communications/marketing

Proven experience in:

• Social media marketing
• Content creation
• Online community engagement
• Paid social media campaigns
• Use of major platforms (Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn)

Experience in the power or utilities sector will be an advantage but is not essential.

Skills & Attributes

• Proficiency in social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer)
• Basic design and video editing skills (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CapCut, Photoshop)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to present technical information clearly and creatively
• Analytical skills using tools such as Sprout Social and Meta Business Suite
• Ability to work under pressure, especially during service disruptions
• Results-driven, confident, and commercially aware
• Strong organisational and teamwork skills with a proactive attitude
